The successful transfer of a business to a new and eager owner from a happy and hopeful seller is Janet’s reward.  The rest is just icing on the cake!

About Jan

She has 25 years combined experience in Accounting, Finance, and local government. Janet earned an MBA in Finance with a minor in Estate and Gift Taxation from Wayne State University, as well as a BSBA in Accounting at Lawrence Technological University. She has always had a love of numbers. As a Tax Accountant working in a CPA office, she completed hundreds of individual and business tax returns along with monthly and year end financials.  Janet advised many small businesses on how to streamline their accounting and make better use of their resources. From the inside out, she understands how small businesses operate.

As a Series 7 licensed Stockbroker, Janet advised clients on how to attain their financial goals by creating a comprehensive plan and helping them execute it.  Identifying goals can sometimes be difficult and finding the right product fit could be time consuming, but she enjoyed the challenge. In the end, it was about securing the future for her clients and giving them hope.

As a local elected official, Janet helped improve her community by listening to her constituents and advocating on their behalf on the County, State, and Federal levels.

Janet and her husband decided to relocate to Southwest Florida from Southeast Michigan in 2020.  Although being a permanent resident is something new, Janet has been visiting Cape Coral since 1975.  Her grandparents moved to the Cape in the late 1960’s and decided to make it their home. Many fond memories were made in Cape Coral over the last 45 years, which influenced the decision to make this beautiful part of Florida her new home. Outside of work, Janet enjoys biking, exploring nature, organic and native gardening, baking, traveling, reading, and vintage cars.

Ask Jan

What is your favorite thing about being a business broker?

"I enjoy being a Business Broker because it combines two interests of mine: helping people and small business. I believe that small businesses are the backbone of our national economy and have a significant impact on our local communities. From Girl Scouts and Goodfellows to being a local elected official and Kiwanian, helping people has been a part of my life since childhood. Being a business broker allows me to help sellers who are thinking of selling and exiting their businesses, giving them the ability to move on their next chapter in life."

My favorite motivational quote is:

"I do not have a particular motivational quote that inspires me. But, upon reflection, the inspirational and poignant words of the late President John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country” is relatable to me in many ways. (i.e. help because you can or “pay it forward”).  We can all benefit from a little help from time to time."
